Tues. April 11 marks the second annual Books for Beer, hosted by Charleston Friends of the Library to celebrate National Library Week. Held at Bay Street Biergarten from 5:30-8:30 p.m., participants can bring one gently used book in exchange for one free beer (ask your bartender about beers that qualify). Kids can get in on the action, too, and bring a kid’s book to get a root beer in return.

Charleston Friends of the Library is an organization whose goal is to help fund programs, materials, and events of Charleston’s libraries through fundraising events and book sales. There will be books for sale at the event, and there will be a silent auction for participants to bid on. Admission is free, and you can learn more about Friends of the Library and the event online.
