SCSU remembers 1968 Orangeburg Massacre
South Carolina State University will mark the 45th anniversary of the February 9, 1968 Orangeburg Massacre, when state highway patrol officers opened fire on a group protesters gathered at the segregated All Star Bowling Lane in Orangeburg near the university, killing three and injuring more than two-dozen.

$23,000 PAC payment to Rawle Murdy raises eyebrows
Some I-526 opponents are speculating that a $23,000 payment to downtown Charleston marketing firm Rawle Murdy in October made by the conservative political action committee Palmetto Leadership Council, marked as an 'election expense' on ethics reports, went toward marketing efforts to support the I-526 extension late last year.

New hotel approved for Wentworth and Meeting St.
The Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals-Zoning panel approved a 50-room hotel to sit on the corner of Wentworth and Meeting St. Tuesday. The building has sat vacant for years, and is adjacent to Jestine's Kitchen, S.C. National Bank, and the Meeting St. fire station.
