2012 Skinful Halloween

When: Sat., Oct. 27, 8 p.m. 2012

What: The name really says it all. Skinful Halloween, one of Charleston’s naughtiest Halloween parties, has rolled around again and it’s shaping up to be a pretty epic evening. The Brick House Kitchen grounds will be taken over by six music stages with bands including the Dubplates featuring Future Fambo and Zumjay, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Cut Chemist and Chali 2na from Jurassic 5, and DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill. Add to the music a hookah dome tent, video walls, pole dancing, and urban wakeboarding, and you’ll have just a small picture of what’s planned for the night. According to Dave Brisacher, owner of Big Hair Productions and curator of the night’s entertainment, “We have some of the best lighting programmers, video mapping, DJs, and also a massive intelligent laser light show set up. We’re able to get the best of the best from all the local production companies.” If you’re looking to party before your party, head to the Tin Roof in West Ashley around 9 p.m. They’re holding a Skinful pre-party with local trash-talking cover band Dante’s Camaro. It goes without saying (but we’re saying it anyway) that security will be tighter this year, so you’ll have to be on your best bad behavior.

Smoking mushrooms?

To be fair, we went a couple of years ago and they had some interesting carnival "flame twirling" folks there, but the party was totally pitiful. A hassel to catch the bus into the event. Techno rock? was played all through the night and there was not one cover band. People just walked back and forth, back and forth thru the woods. Smoking mushrooms or whatever else. I guess some were thinking that they would see some SKIN @ Skinful, what a complete joke. Everybody "wants" to be naughty, but so very few are. If you want to see just a little bit of naughty then go to the "Lifestyle" aka Swingers club at the Low Country Desires. Hell, most people stand around there too, but NOT all, that's for sure. Skinful is a waste of time and money if you are over the age of 24, basically for college kids. Two thumbs down rating and trust me this critic and his wife have PHD's in partying.
