If local is the new organic, and potluck dinners are taking over nights on the town due to a penny pinching economy, then what could be better than the Lowcountry Local First’s 2nd Annual Chef’s Potluck Dinner? This is not your church’s Sunday potluck dinner, no questionable casseroles here. With some of the Lowcountry’s best chefs pairing up with area farmers, it’s more like a potluck feast. The line-up for the night highlights local food, with favorites from the chef’s at Middleton Place, Fish, The Glass Onion, the Rev Food Group (Monza, Taco Boy, Poe’s), Maverick Southern Kitchens, Coast Bar and Grill, Carolina’s, Cru Café, Anson, Hall’s Chophouse, and Duvall Catering. The evening will include local beer from Coast, plenty of vino, and handmade artisan chocolates from Charleston’s own Sweet Teeth Confections. Chow down on fresh food, groove to live music from Elsie Testone, and place your bids at the auction. Be sure to get your tickets early for dinner under the oaks at the Pavilion at Middleton Place, last year’s potluck sold out. Proceeds benefit sustainable agriculture in the Lowcountry.
