In 1978, long before Charleston became known as an international tourist destination, A. W. Shuck's opened on the Market. It was a place for locals, where one could get a plate of fried shrimp, a dozen raw oysters, or an ice-cold pitcher of beer. Just about any Charlestonian can tell you stories about the early days of Shuck's. Shuck's house specialties included an award-winning stuffed shrimp entrée and the Lowcountry's best she-crab soup. Today, A. W. Shuck's serves some of the finest seafood in the city, all prepared to please the demanding palates of the locals who insist on Shuck's traditional style of Charleston seafood. There's the popular raw bar, of course, which serves steamed oysters year-round. Shuck's also offers delicious shrimp, scallops, crab, and oyster dishes, prepared just about any way you like.
Fresh, Lowcountry seafood dishes, full raw bar. Located on The Market.
