What: A beer float? That’s just one of the crazy concoctions that Chef Robert Stehling and the beer kings at the Charleston Beer Exchange have come up with for the Bacon, Eggs, and Beer dinner, a creative multi-course meal that not only puts ice cream in beer but also stuffs French toast with oysters and puts coffee in the gravy! OK, some of those conventions aren’t so unusual to country cooking, but seriously, a beer float? It’s caramel ice cream in a Founders Breakfast Stout, and it actually sounds pretty good. The rest of the breakfast for dinner menu is stacked with everything from fried bologna and liver pudding to country ham, oysters, duck sausages, and beef tenderloin. Expect to be as stuffed as the french toast at the end of this meal, which will also highlight beers like Brooklyn Brewery’s Brooklyn Local 1, Hoppin’ Frog Brewery’s Frog’s Hollow Double Pumpkin Ale, and The Bruery’s Orchard White.
