This time last year, City Paper Managing Editor Chris Haire went on a 150-word tirade against the members of the College of Charleston's Quidditch club, and naturally, the kids were not too keen on him. So the City Paper sent out a writer to see just what all the fuss was about, and low and behold, we found the entire experience, well, magical. We hopped on a broom and played a quick practice round, dodging bludgers (really red kickballs) and pitifully attempting to get the quaffle (really a slightly deflated volleyball) through a goal fashioned from a hula hoop. The team, led by co-founder Laurin Grabowsky, couldn't have been more hospitable, and we weren't ashamed to eat a little crow. Or, in more appropriate Harry Potter terms, owl.
