For some, it was a miracle. For others, it was a tragedy. When news came last summer that Forever 21 would not only be opening a store in the Holy City, but that it would be a massive spot, taking over the former Saks Fifth Avenue location, it meant that fashionistas and 14-year-olds alike could now stock up on disposable fashion in ways they never could before locally. Hundreds waited in line for the doors to officially open on a day in mid-January (and to snag one of the gift certificates the store was handing out), and then waited again to purchase their items. On any given day at the City Paper, you'll likely find one of our staffers wearing an item purchased from the chain - or maybe an entire outfit. Say what you will, but we predict it'll be the busiest store on King Street any weekend of the year. Unless downtown Charleston can finagle an H&M.
