The first Charleston Wine + Food Festival critics dinner took place over in Mt. Pleasant at a waterfront resort. For the second critics dinner, they really upped the ante, securing Fort Sumter as the location, which made for an unforgettable experience. On the boat ride over, guests were treated to snacks and cocktails, and Chip Campsen told us just how rare an opportunity it was. At the fort, which many folks had not been to since their school days, tables were set up on the parade grounds, and a lineup of Charleston's best chefs cooked food in a rather primitive setting. The logistics involved in pulling this thing off were immense, and to everyone's credit (particularly Randi Weinstein at Charleston Wine + Food), the night went off beautifully. It'll be nearly impossible to top it.
