Freshman Congressman Tim Scott is without a doubt the most high-profile of the Tea Party newbies in the U.S. House of Representatives. He's on CNN and Fox News, and the major political news sites love to quote him. Truth be told, Scott's VIP status has nothing to do with his achievements — he hasn't done anything but get elected — and everything to do with his skin color. As you all know, Tim is black, and, well, that's a rarity in the Republican Party, especially on Capitol Hill. Regardless, Scott's a GOP player, which is why his decision to host a series of First in the South Presidential Town Hall speeches by the Republican Party contenders was so genius. In the months leading up to the South Carolina GOP Primary, nearly every single candidate visited Scott and spoke at one of his gatherings. The one Republican to turn down Tim: Ron Paul. Make of that what you will.
