In recent years, knitting has become hip, with knit shops cropping up all over the place, stocking fantastic yarn and hosting stitch-and-bitch sessions. It seems sewing shops might be getting a similar treatment, if Five-Eighth Seams is any indication. This cute little shop in West Ashley is clean, airy, and modern. In other words, it's not your grandma's Hancock Fabrics. You'll find upscale designer fabrics and modern patterns. They have an open sew policy, which means you can bring your machine and set up on the spacious cutting tables for $5 an hour. Or, if you need some instruction, they'll help you out for $15 an hour. With the rainbows of ribbons on the wall, you'll be making the cutest unicorn outfit of them all.
