Best Mobile Kitchen

Crop Stop

Staff Pick

Last spring, Clemson Cooperative Extension enlisted Clemson architecture students to build a crop stop, a mobile kitchen designed for local farmers to process and package their produce. Set up on Johns Island, the crop stop — somewhere between the size of a hoverboard and an Imperial Star Destroyer — was built with the intention of helping local, small farmers get their produce ready for market. The project also had an educational element, with farmers signing up to either sell produce to schools or put on educational programs for students. Pro tip: don’t go near the Sarlaac Pit. —Connelly Hardaway
