On the heels of Firefly Distillery's dabblings into sweet-tea bourbon and rum, entrepreneurs David Szlam and Jake Johnson (both vets of Cordavi) designed a new bourbon-based infusion called Virgil Kaine Bourbon & Ginger. It's a natural match: Great bourbon goes well with great ginger ale. Virgil Kaine is handcrafted in small batches using two-year-old bourbon from Kentucky and natural ginger, vanilla, and cinnamon flavors. It's light amber in color, and there's a bit of vanilla and citrus in the aroma with only a hint of ginger and oak. The first sip tastes sweeter than expected, and the ginger flavor comes through strongest in the finish. Try it mixed with a strong root beer, spicy Blenheim ginger ale, or a dash of carbonated water and cherries, lime, or mint.
