International African American Museum

Staff Pick

After clearing the city’s Board of Architectural Review process, Charleston’s International African American Museum is hoping to open its doors by the end of 2019. The current hurdle for the $75 million project is securing the necessary private funding to get the thing built, but we have confidence that those with the necessary cash on hand will see the importance of this project and what it would mean for Charleston. With an estimated two years to complete construction, there is still a lot of work left to make the museum a reality — but at least we’re headed in the right direction. —Dustin Waters
