When the urge hits to buy a gift for that favorite bibliophile of yours, one can always hit up the chain store of your choice, or you can visit a place like Blue Bicycle on King Street. Walking into Blue Bicycle on a warm summer day, we were reminded of that joy we felt staring at the endless mountains of books, but one item stuck out in particular: a pristine copy of Cinemafantastique, a short-lived film magazine that specialized in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. On the cover were the friendly visages of three of horror's most beloved icons, Stephen King, George Romero, and Tom Savini promoting their new movie Creepshow and some new Steven Spielberg flick about a homeless alien called E.T. Inside was a time capsule that captured a sliver of movie magic. Thank you, Blue Bicycle, for enabling the unshakable celluloid monkey on our back.
