Mt. Pleasant Town Administrator Eric DeMoura and his team took on an unusual task last summer. In an attempt to lighten the pain and frustration over the traffic caused by the Charleston County RoadWise program along Johnnie Dodds Boulevard (from the Ravenel Bridge to the Isle of Palms Connector), the town wanted to post a handful of "humorous" signs on orange barrels and barriers. The town didn't hire a professional comedy troupe to brainstorm on road construction zingers and one-liners based on traffic woes, so DeMoura and his crew had to hustle to compose witticisms for the road signs. One read: "Getting here is easy. Just take your third traffic cone, then a quick left by the pile of dirt." Hilarious. The construction on the highway is expected to be finished later this year.
