Charleston native David Lee is perhaps best known in town for his impressive tattoos and raucous guitar playing. He spent years touring and recording with Tennessee-based rockabilly band the Legendary Shack*Shakers before going solo a few years back. Last May, the Shack*Shakers played the Pour House with Lee's replacement, Duane Denison (of the Jesus Lizard, Tomahawk). Lee happened to be in attendance. It could have been awkward, but everyone was in high spirits. At the end of the set, Lee jumped on stage, plugged his custom Gretsch guitar into Denison's amp, and sawed through a few quick Shack*Shakers classics. It was a totally unexpected reunion and a highlight of the night.
