This past June, the South Carolina Stingrays celebrated their third Kelly Cup Championship in 12 years after defeating the Alaska Aces and sending Sarah Palin home crying. Just as good, John Bednar, coach of the Stingrays, became the first ECHL coach to have his name etched onto the cup three times over. That may not mean much in a region where hockey is often overlooked, but in a way that’s what makes it even more awesome. We look for the Stingrays to bring us frozen joy for many years to come.
