We got our first exposure to Joel Parker's unique nude paintings last May when he presented his works at Pecha Kucha. The artist is inspired by party pictures posted on Facebook by college students, although he adds a twist — most of his subjects are naked. A few months later, we saw his debut show at SCOOP Studios. While it's easy to see little more than the nude revellers, Parker's point was to get viewers thinking about coming of age rites and the need for community. We laughed, we scratched out heads, and we wanted to bring home a picture of a naked coed doing a keg stand.
