Update: Early this morning, Dig South reached its Kickstarter goal, but you've got until 5pm Friday to get in on early-bird pricing.

24 hours before its Kickstarter fundraising period ends, DIG SOUTH, a new local creative and technology conference set to hold its inaugural event next April, is $1,200 away from its $11,776 goal for early ticket sales.

Dig South organizer Stanfield Gray says he modeled the festival, which features an impressive speaker list, live entertainment, and expo open to the public, after wildly successful conference-festival hybrids like South by Southwest in Austin and Portland's XOXO conference. Gray says the event is designed to draw interest from four fields: technology, marketing, social media, and the arts.

Presenters slated to make an appearance at the festival include: CNN Digital SVP Meredith Artley, Jamie Christner, vice-president for strategy and analysis at Digitas, TechCrunch East Coast Editor John Biggs, ReverbNation VP for Product Development Ferol Vernon, AOL Ventures founder Mike Brown and a slew of local entrepreneurs and creative professionals from BoomTown, PeopleMatter, SCRA, TwitPic, SPARC, and Blackbaud—80 speakers in all. Gray says the line-up for the music and arts portion of the event will be unveiled in the coming months.

A $10 pledge to the Kickstarter campaign earns you admission to the whole shebang, a ticket that will go for $45 when normal sales open. For more about Dig South, which runs April 12-14, 2013, check out digsouth.com.
