JAC and friends honor Duffy

A celebration of life for Fran├žoise Mompied Duffy

Françoise Mompied Duffy

The Jazz Artists of Charleston will sponsor A Celebration of Life in memory and honor of Françoise Mompied Duffy from 5-9 p.m. on Sun. Dec. 19 at the Sylvan Gallery (171 King St.).

A native of Paris, France, Duffy died on Dec. 2 at the age of 61. She and her husband Peter Duffy ran the former Mistral Restaurant on South Market Street for 25 years. The venue was the home to many local and visiting jazz acts, including several concert series associated with Piccolo Spoleto and the Jazz Artists of Charleston.

This week’s event will include a raffle, silent auction, and live music provided by many of the musicians who were part of the Mistral musical family. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served. A donation of $10 is requested at the door (cash or check only). Proceeds will go to the Françoise Duffy Memorial Fund.
