The Mountain Goats just announced that they will play a show at the Pour House on June 26. According to the Pour House Twitter account, the show will also include the band the Baptist Generals, and tickets will go on sale Fri. April 12 for $18.
The critically acclaimed downer-folk-rock band, currently based out of Durham, N.C., features singer-songwriter (and sometimes solitary member) John Darnielle's brand of nasal-inflected, hyper-literate musings on drug addiction, illness, family dysfunction, and Bible verses, among other topics. Pitchfork gave the Mountain Goats' latest album, Transcendental Youth, a 7.8 out of 10, noting that Darnielle is a practitioner of "radical empathy."
If you're a Mountain Goats fan looking for a way to get amped for the show (or whatever the equivalent of "amped" is for Mountain Goats fans), it's worth your time to download Marc Maron's WTF podcast episode where he interviews Darnielle about his harrowing life story. You can listen to it here.
