President Barack Obama slipped into his tough-guy suit yesterday, the one that he wears whenever he feels the need to co-opt Bill Pullman's character in Independence Day. You know, the one that sounds a just like George W. Bush at his bring-'em-on best.
Speaking before Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Obama addressed the recent U.S. embassy closings around the world, a move that was made in response to the executive office's yearly terrorist-chatter pants shitting. During the speech, Obama wanted to let everybody know that America ain't no nation of yellow-bellied cowards, saying, "The United States is never going to retreat from the world. We don't get terrorized."
Of course, in order to say this, Obama conveniently ignored the fact that by closing our embassies and urging Americans to collectively freak out, that's exactly what we've done. Ugh.
