A dark force is coming: The end of the Harry Potter film franchise. It’s been 10 years of our lives, people, and that doesn’t even count the books. How on earth are you going to commemorate this milestone?
Consider the premiere party at the Hippodrome. It starts at 10 p.m. on Thurs. July 14 and is free if you’ve got a ticket to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. While the anticipation builds, play Harry Potter trivia, enjoy themed drinks and candy, and enter the Harry Potter costume contest, which has a $200 first place prize. We suggest getting tickets as soon as possible, since it’s going to be the last time you’ll ever get to see a midnight premiere of a Harry Potter movie. Sniffle. Visit the Hippodrome's website for more info and to buy tickets.
Whether you’re one of the lucky ticket holders, or even if you’re not, Cinebarre’s Final Harry Potter Festival will welcome you, and literally about a thousand other people, with open arms. This outdoor celebration and screening begins at sundown on Thurs. July 14. They’ll be selling food and drinks fit for a wizard, and there will also be free wizard wands, a jump castle, a DJ, face painting, a photobooth, fortune telling, and even magic (in the form of a magician).
Attendees will also get the chance to win prizes by playing Harry Potter trivia or participating in the costume contest. Bring blankets and chairs along with your invisibility cloaks and pet owls. Well, maybe you shouldn’t bring the owls. Tickets are available for purchase at Cinebarre (963 Houston Northcutt Blvd.) or at Cinebarre's website.
Finally, in West Ashely, the entire Citadel Mall IMAX Stadium 16 will be dedicated to the premiere. That means you can see Harry Potter in fancy shmancy IMAX 3-D or in regular ole 2-D. Call (843) 556-4629 for more info.
