Lights, camera, skate. Coming this October to select theaters across the country, The Maloof Money Cup World Skateboarding Championship from South Africa hits the big screen. The equivalent of the Super Bowl for skateboarding, the event consists of five different contests featuring more than 30 of the best skaters from around the world, including Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, and Tony Trujillo. The film includes some of the sickest tricks from the weekend, killer wipe-outs, gnarly competition highlights, and extra home videos submitted by amateurs for the Best Trick Big Screen online contest.
The Maloof Money Cup was founded by Sacramento Kings owners, brothers Joe and Gavin Maloof, who our proud to host the only world title event in skateboarding. And instead of letting event coordinators or sport consultants design their parks, the Maloofs decided instead to let the skaters design the parks and then work with the cities to construct features that replicate actual street conditions and features.
Screenings will start Tues. Oct. 2 at Azalea Square Stadium in Summerville, and Charlestowne Square in North Charleston.
