Charleston Battery vs. Wilmington Hammerheads

When: Sat., May 10, 7:30 p.m. 2014

The World Cup may still be a month and a half away, but that just means more time to get in the soccer spirit. And since it’s been awhile since there’s been a home game at Blackbaud Stadium, it’s the perfect excuse to go full hooligan when the Battery takes on the Hammerheads from Wilmington, N.C. After a long stretch of away games, “the players will be excited to return home to Blackbaud Stadium and play in front of the home crowd,” says Whitney Woods, the Battery’s marketing manager — and a former Hammerhead employee. Along with it being the first home game in a few weeks, the match-up is special because it’s Kick for a Cure night at Blackbaud, which benefits Susan G. Komen. “The stadium will become a sea of pink as the players will wear pink jerseys and the lines on the field will also be pink. The jerseys will be auctioned off with 100 percent of the proceeds going to charity,” says Woods. “We also have pink tickets for sale for $11 that include an East Box ticket, koozie, and tote bag.”
