Think you’ve got what it takes to get people laughing? Well, get your jokes ready, because this weekend marks the beginning of Theatre 99’s 10th annual Charleston Comedy Festival Stand Up Competition. If you’d rather be a judge of the jokers, you can just watch the show — 14 stand ups performing five-minute sets each — for only $5. The audience will vote at the end of each of the four prelim rounds by choosing two of their favorite funny guys or gals to move on to the next round. “You can vote for two people, so we tell people to vote for your friend and the person you think was the funniest,” jokes Theatre 99 co-founder Brandy Sullivan. The final round will take place on Dec. 1 with a panel of official judges. The top three winners will get the awesome opportunity to participate in a showcase during the 2013 Charleston Comedy Festival. If you think you could be the next Daniel Tosh or Aziz Ansari, it’s just $20 to register at charlestoncomedyfestival.com.
