I went to Baked today and the three girls working had no idea about the free marshmallow deal. I felt kinda dumb. They did say they "saw some stuff around about Lemonfest" but didn't know when it was starting.
I ate a lemon whoopie pie anyway and it was delicious. This place is awesome, with or without the free mallow.
This place is amazing. Everyone recommended another popular dessert place instead of Baked. We went there, and it was okay. The next night we tried Baked, and that was it! We skip the other place, and are glad we do every time! Try anything with buttercream...especially the pistachio cupcakes.
Baked is a real gem and is not to be missed by anyone who enjoys a sweet treat now and then. They are right on East Bay street and have a nice sitting room indoors or you can enjoy the view from the sidewalk. As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed by the complex mix of espresso, chocolate, and pastries. I didn't even know where to go first. Luckily I was with my wife so we each ordered a few items and shared them - everything tasted like heaven. These guys even make their own marshmallows. The coffee was intense and delicious and the variey of pastry, cookies, and other bakery items is unrivaled within driving distance. Great place to start your day or keep it going.
Heaven!!! The service was friendly & suggestive not to mention knowledgable on all the incredible baked treats available. The Bourbon Pecan Chocolate Bar was the best sinful pleasure I had during my Charleston jaunt. The coffee drinks & hot chocolates were wonderful as well. With all the Starbucks out there how refreshing to discover a crafted coffee.
To top it off the relaxed urban atmosphere, complete with a library room made it a delight thats mighty delovely.
I was not impressed. Everything LOOKED beautiful, but the cakes, cookies, and brownies I tried (my friend and I ordered a lot) were heavy and not very flavorful. I give them points for style, but I bake stuff better than that at home all the time.
