NYE in Charleston, SC with Plane Jane and the East Coast Party Band again!!!! Can't wait to check out this years venue and ring in the New Year with everybody
The Second Annual Crystal Ball is going to be amazing. Plane Jane and East Coast Party Band in the same building? Say What? This is going to be awesome! The Omar Shrine has a great layout with plenty of space. The event will feature Premium Food and Bar with two of Charleston's Best Bands. Parking, hotels close by! Check out the webpage at www.crystalballcharleston.com for all the info! Call 225-5631 for tickets!
Looking forward to this NYE event! They changed locations, have a new bar service and food service. Love Plane Jane and can't wait to ring in my New Year with them!!!!!!!!
Poor Planning and Poor Execution:
1. Drink tickets? Who knew there was a limit when the advertisement read "all inclusive". Caused a major alcohol frenzy leading to issue #2.
2. Bar was out of control. Not only did I feel like I was in a mosh pit but why were there not a. mutiple bars b. enough staff?? Imagine the chaos if the bartenders had to deal with cash/credit card.
3. Hors D'oeuvres? Really? cheese cubes and carving stations. But it didn't really matter because there was...
4. Not enough seating/tables. How do you suggest I hold my purse, drink, plate, and eat all at the same time?
5. Who knew the bar closed at 12:30? (unless you were reading your drink tickets while you were waiting in the bar line) Even so, who knew that when the bar closes at 12:30, you would not be able to get a drink at 12:24?
6. Where were the party favors?
7. The ball dropped? Could have seen that better on my 32" tv.
8. I love dancing on broken plastic champagne glasses almost as much as I love...
9. Getting kicked out at 1. I spent approximately 1 hour trying to enjoy my $95 (I'm sorry, I mean $104 bc when I called I was told they were sold out): arrived at 9 and waited in line. got to the bar and waited in line. tried to eat and quickly dismissed that idea. went back to the bar and waited in line. watched the band. waited in line. watched the screen. danced. went to get a drink at "last call", got denied. lights came on and we were herded towards the door.
10. Locked out of the hotel and denied reentry to a. find my friend b. use the restroom c. not freeze to death while i waited on my taxi (for 1 hour) d. not get raped.
What a party.
Looking forward to the 2nd annual Crystal Ball at the Omar Shrine this year. We had a great time, our only disappointment was having to leave when it was over. Thank goodness the Waffle House is open all night :)... The bands were great and I am so glad East Coast Party Band is back this year. Love Plane Jane, so that will be a great addition!
The Charleston Crystal Ball last year was an amazing event. The entertainment, bands, sound and lighting were phenomenal. The East Coast Party Band and Blue Dogs delivered an incredible performance. The producer of the event did an incredible job. From what I understand, the venue understaffed the bars and didn't provide enough seating for the number of guests that attended the event.
7 stellar reviews in a little over an hour about an event that hasn't even taken place yet? Anyone else suspicious? (One star for being so transparently cheeseball)
This function was sponsored by a thief that lured people in by advertising the East Coast Party Band .The unknown promoter that took 103.00 dollars per person for an overcrowded bar, bottom round beef and chicken fingers.Open bar was 4 mixed drinks and 1 glass of champagne. With getting a room, not to drinkI drive I am into New Years Eve for in excess of 300.00 dollars. The room was filled with aproximately 750 people if not more, one bar and approximately 12 tables for people to sit and eat their bottom round beef.East Coast Party Band was there and I was told by a woman responsible for the event that they were going to play at 11:00 P.M.The drink tickets which I still have, only advertise the second band to be Blue Dogs. With the amount of people, the poor quality of food, and the one bar I have wasted $300.00 and did not have to worry about getting stopped by the police after surrendering my room back to the hotel, due to the fact I had my five drink tickets in hand.New Years Eve 2011 was a night to remember. This is the night that I was robbed by a hotel and a faceless promoter. In closing, I was fortunate to meet a couple that drove from Richmond Va. to see the East Coast Party Band. This function in my opinion does not even deserve one star.Mr. Promoter if you have any conscious feel free to contact me for my firstname.lastname@example.org
Excited to have a NYE event in Mt P! Dont have to worry about driving downtown, parking, etc. Love Plane Jane and can't wait to see the East Coast Party band!!!! I heard that IceBox is doing the bar services, they make the best drinks! Going shopping for my cocktail dress this weekend!!!!!
Really excited about Plane Jane and ECPB playing at the same venue this year! I went last year and the bar was definitely understaffed, but I talked to the promoter and this was because the venue insisted on running the bar. This year they've overcompensated by teaming up with Ice Box bar service and having multiple open bars. This should be the best event going on this year.
My wife and I attended and while there were definitely issues trying to get a drink early on, the night was still fun, and people seemed to enjoy themselves for the most part (once they were able to get a drink).
My biggest disappointment was that I was in the bar line for most of the Blue Dogs set, which was the main reason that we attended the event. All of the music was great, though, with an impressive stage and sound system. The bar line got a lot better once everyone got through the first time (probably because people were requesting multiple drinks so that wouldn't have to get back in line for a while; I saw many folks walking around with 6 packs...).
I think that they could have avoided most of the issues that they had at the bar simply by having a couple of beer & wine only stations in addition to the main bar. Serving mixed drinks really slows things down, and it's very frustrating waiting in line forever when all you want is a bottle of beer. Having a couple of smaller bars on each side in the hallway that serve only beer and wine would have prevented the mess that occurred at the main bar. I would also recommend providing several tall cocktail tables for people to set their plates on while they eat (both in the ballroom and in the hallway). They don't take up much room and would have made the folks who couldn't get a seat at one of the bigger tables much happier people. All of this said, I wouldn't go back next year unless I was sure that changes have be made to correct bar situation.
The hotel room was spacious, air worked great. The biggest downfall was no free internet and a fire alarm at 2:45am. We had to evacuate. It went off another 2 times. Made for a long night. I would have liked an indoor pool too. But was happy with the location. The parking lot had been expanded, which was good.
It was terrible, my wife and I lasted about 15 minutes before we left in disgust. Open bar, no way, 10 drink tickets which woulx have been fine if we could have actually gotten a drink.there was one bar that was mobbed, I am assuming we would have gotten a drink in about an hour but I wasnt going to waste my entire evening trying. The entire thing was a ripoff, I will never waste my money there again. I am so angry I wasted over $200 on that, one positive is I didnt let it ruin my entire new years because I was smart enough to leave very early.
This was absolutely the worst event I have ever been to I in my life. Do not waste your money on this IF these people are dumb enough to try this again next year. It was a sad pathetic joke and here's why: not enough bars, bartenders, or food. It took us 45 minutes to get one drink. They advertised this event as "open bar" however, what they really meant was "we'll give you 10 crappy drink tickets and make you wait an hour for the one drink you can get at a time so that you'll be so pissed off by midnight you won't care that it's a new year." The food was basically chicken tenders and cheese squares. I put on a better spread for my own family for dinner every night. The biggest kicker of all was that they closed the bar at 12:10am, the reason being, "the police are telling us to close the bar because there's too many intoxicated people." I mean really? It WAS new years eve afterall!! So,there goes your remaining 9 drink tickets. People were about to revolt and start a riot. They were throwing their sad little paper drink tickets at the bartenders and event manager. It was unbelievably pathetic waste of $95, wait $104 after the fees were tacked on. My advice, don't go to this next year. I can promise that no one that was there last night will be there next year. This thing sucked.
I loved the varity of Music, The First band on the Hunt, Played Magic Carpet Ride that is our Theme Song. The Blue Dogs Rocked their regular songs and them did Teenage Waste Land by the Who, last East Coast Party Band did everything!
What a great mix, danced all night. We arrived at the begining of the event. We did not have any problem getting drinks until the in flux happened around 11pm. The might could have just separated a bar that had beer and wine and then the liquor drinks at another 2.
If you ate meat they had carving stations, prime rib with all the trimmings! I thought for the first time, they did a great job. I was there to dance and love the music and drinks. We got it!
