Description: This go-to Radcliffeborough corner store has all the typical snacks and cigarettes you’d find at almost every corner store in Charleston, but you can also stop in for a lunch that doesn’t come from a freezer case. Their small deli menu features Boar’s Head sandwich meat, chicken tenders, fries, and a hot dog deal, but they’re known for their perfectly fried falafel balls. Served in a pita with a cool tahini dressing and lots of hot sauce, we suggest upgrading and adding hummus for $1 to balance the spicy kick. Charlie’s opened another store on Spring Street in 2012 with a killer beer selection, but you can still only get their falafel at the original location. —Susan Cohen Dish (Winter 2015)
