For foodies who like their meals with a side of historic holiday magic, Circa 1886 offers their annual Progressive Dinner. Available to diners through Dec. 23, the dinner features four courses at three of Charming Inns’ venues — the Kings Courtyard Inn, Circa 1886, and the John Rutledge House Inn.
The evening kicks off with hors d’oeuvres, cider, and eggnog at the Kings Courtyard Inn on King Street at 5:30 p.m., after which guests will travel via horse-drawn carriage to Circa 1886 behind the Wentworth Mansion for appetizers, salad, and an entrée. You’ll have a choice of either slow-roasted salmon or grilled organic porkchop. At 7:30 p.m., hop on the carriage again and head to the John Rutledge House Inn on Broad Street for dessert and coffee.
Guests are responsible for their own parking, and drinks are not included in the price. Otherwise, you’re in the very capable hands of some talented chefs and carriage drivers. Want to take it up a notch? Stay at the John Rutledge House and enjoy the entire dinner for two, plus get a copy of the Junior League’s Charleston Receipts cookbook, starting at $349 per night. —Erica Jackson
