Of all the local things Lowcountry Local First celebrates, local foods just might be our favorite. LLF’s annual Chef’s Potluck brings the most distinguished chefs in Charleston together with local farmers to show off our region’s agricultural and culinary bounty. This year, the participating restaurants include Caviar & Bananas, Cru Café, Cypress, Daniel Island Club, EVO, FIG, The Glass Onion, The Grocery, Monza, Poogan’s Porch, Social, SNOB, and Two Boroughs Larder. You can also sip beer, wine, and libations from Firefly, Grassroots Wine, COAST Brewing Co., and Palmetto Brewery. Your ticket gets you tastings from all 12 of the chef-farmer pairs and includes drinks. “It’s great because it brings attention to the abundance of local food that we have in our community and the chefs that are supporting local farmers and fishermen,” says LLF’s executive director Jamee Haley. “All the funds go to supporting Eat Local programs, which helps our farmers.” In addition to the food, there will be groovin’ tunes from the Garage Cuban Band and a live auction with some pretty exciting offerings, like a weekend getaway to Dewee’s Island, a private farm tour, and a two-night stay at Walnut Hill Plantation. We’ve got our eye on the Fisherman-for-a-Day package.
