Chive on Charleston Bowling Night

When: Sat., Aug. 17, 7 p.m.-2 a.m. 2013

KCCO. Or Keep Calm and Chive On. That’s what the T-shirts say, so we’re going to obey. Chive on Charleston, a faction of the Holy City Chivers (all followers and fans of the website theCHIVE.com, which provides random images and videos ranging from famous people to “FAIL” moments to girls to dogs), is collaborating with the Alley for a night of RAKs (random acts of kindness). That doesn’t mean letting your rival bowl a strike while you purposefully wallow in gutterball hell — it means donating the night’s proceeds to the Charleston County Rescue Squad, a volunteer group that supports our local fire and law enforcement agencies. The Alley is opening up all the lanes, and DJ Natty Heavy will spin some beats downstairs, while Inkahootz will present a silent disco upstairs. There will also be strike contests and food and drink specials ($2 PBR, Old Milwaukee, Natty Light; $3 Natty Bo; $3 Fireball shots; $4 Rumplemintz shots; and limited edition $1 Chive On Jello shooters). There will even be some prize giveaways, like a pair of tickets to the 2014 Best of Charleston bash. “This is going to be one amazing party. There have been Chivers and Chivettes buying tickets from all over the Southeast,” says Charlie Vance of Chive on Charleston. “We’ve had people from stilt walkers to fire-breathing bartenders writing us and letting us know they’ve already gotten some tickets, so I’m sure we’re going to see some crazy stuff.”
