Remember searching under couch cushions for those plastic eggs filled with candy on Easter? Well, now imagine that hunt stretched throughout Hampton Park, plus about 500 kids, plenty of music, games, and entertainment, and you’ve got the Easter Eggstravaganza. Just one of several Easter egg hunts thrown by the City of Charleston’s Recreation Department, the Eggstravaganza is the city’s largest Easter egg hunt. The fun starts at 11 a.m., when four separate age groups of kids 12 and under scour Hampton Park for Easter treats. Once the youngsters are egg hunted out, take them to work off some of that candy at the climbing wall or jump castle. They can also hop their way through a potato sack race and play games for prizes. Wrap up the day by watching the bunny parade — rumor has it that the Easter Bunny himself will make an appearance. By then your kids’ sugar crash should have hit, and you’ll have a quiet afternoon ahead of you.
