We may not be New Orleans, but in a head-to-head party-off with that crazy old city we think we’d do pretty well. Prove us right this Tuesday at Voodoo. They’ll have endless Malibu rum drinks and real-deal Hurricanes to help bring out your party animal, plus New Orleans-inspired food specials, free beads and Mardi Gras swag, and the sweet sounds of Dixieland jazz with Quentin Baxter and a Louisiana-style dancing brass band. “We’re trying to do an authentic Fat Tuesday,” says Voodoo marketing manager Julia Heckman. “It’s all about dancing, fun, and food.” Voodoo’s chef is working on some creative interpretations of Bayou dishes, but you’ll have to wait till you get there to see what they are. So start stocking up on Tylenol — Fat Tuesday is one night when leaving early just isn’t OK.
