Halloween Carnival

When: Wed., Oct. 31, 5-7 p.m. 2012

Kids will flock to anything with jump castles even if candy’s not involved. And if it is involved, like at the IOP Halloween Carnival, then at least they can bounce off their crazy sugar highs before you bring them back home. In addition to the jump castles, Halloween at the family-friendly IOP rec center features carnival games, temporary tattoos, face painting, obstacle courses, inflatable slides, and a costume contest with different age divisions. Families can eat on the cheap thanks to hot dogs, chips, and drinks, all for between $1 and $3. And expect crowds. Last year’s carnival brought in more than 900 people. “It’s a big event for us and every year it seems like we’re getting more and more numbers,” says Recreation Supervisor of Special Events Will McElheny. We’d love to see the mountains of candy they must stockpile to get ready for this thing.
