It’s a long, cold off-season for baseball fans, but they’re getting a reprieve this weekend. At this year’s Hot Stove Banquet, the RiverDogs are hosting Hall of Famer Wade Boggs, whose 18-year career included time with both the Red Sox and the Yankees. “Wade Boggs is a household name in the game of baseball,” says RiverDogs general manager Dave Echols. “Fans at the Hot Stove Banquet will no doubt get to hear some great stories from Mr. Boggs about his playing days, as well as some of his famous superstitions and pre-game rituals.” The evening will include live and silent auctions, dinner and drinks, and a photo and autograph session with Boggs. “There’s such a rich history of baseball in Charleston, and we try to constantly pay homage to that,” Echols says. “It’s really the perfect opportunity for us to bring all the area’s baseball fans together for one huge event.” Proceeds from the night will support baseball programs at the Citadel, College of Charleston, and Charleston Southern University.
