What: The celebrity-packed Les Misérables movie was great (well, minus Russell Crowe). The tragedy, the love, the idealism — it all had us bawling in our cushy movie theater seats. So we’re even more excited about our chance to see the stage production at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. And this isn’t just any Les Mis. This is a newly staged production that’s been called more raw, more honest, and all-around more intense than the original, and though the producers have dispensed with the famous turntable set, they’ve added a fuller orchestral sound, a new setting for the opening, and set designs inspired by Victor Hugo’s little-known paintings.“This new production has been acclaimed by critics, fans, and new audiences and is breaking box office records wherever it goes,” says Alan Coker, North Charleston Performing Arts Center marketing manager. “Les Mis is without a doubt the biggest show of the season at the PAC.”
