Live at the Charleston Music Hall w/ Sam Bush and Edwin McCain

When: Sat., March 30 2013

Even people who wouldn’t be caught dead watching PBS know Austin City Limits, the grandaddy of all live music shows that’s been running since 1976. Taking inspiration from that iconic show, Hootie and the Blowfish guitarist Mike Bryan and the Charleston Music Hall’s Charles Carmody have launched Live at the Charleston Music Hall, a concert series that will film live performances by local and regional musicians. Each episode will feature a regional artist performing at the Hall, and the goal is to get Live picked up by a local or national network. Bryan first tried to organize the series four years ago, but the timing wasn’t right. When Carmody took over as the Music Hall’s director last year, Bryan contacted him with the idea for the series, and it was only a matter of time before the vision became a reality. Carmody is excited to get the show off the ground. “[The Charleston Music Hall] is the ideal venue for live filming,” he says. “Everyone’s been really cooperative and collaborative.” This first show features Greenville native Edwin McCain and newgrass stalwart Sam Bush. The sets will be split into two 30-minute episodes, but you’ll get to see them both. Pick up your tickets soon if you want to be a part of local live music history.
