Tis the season — for oysters, that is, and Lowcountry Local First is getting in on the seasonal shellfish action with a benefit oyster roast thrown by LLF member and friend, the Charleston Crab House. “This is the second year they’ve done this for us, and we had a really good turnout last year,” says LLF’s Justin Knabb. The Crab House is providing everything you need for a good roast, from oysters and chili to groovy music by Hawaiian band Olu Olu. And in addition to getting you some great food, your ticket price will help LLF become even better in 2013 than they were in 2012. “The money raised will help us roll out this year’s new programming, from our GOODBusiness series to the Creative Entrepreneurship series,” Knabb says. Both programs are aimed at helping small, local businesses and individuals make better business choices and connect with other entrepreneurs. LLF is also working toward launching a year-long Buy Local campaign, instead of focusing on just one month. Tickets are limited, and if last year’s event was any indication, you’ll want to get yours early.
Price: $20/LLF members, $25/non-members
