Maker's Market

When: First Sunday of every month, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Continues through Dec. 2 2012

Starting this Sunday, Park Circle’s ecofriendly and urban-chic neighborhood Mixson is getting the creative set together for a monthly Maker’s Market. With craftspeople, artists, growers, and producers showcasing their wares, the market offers up locally produced curiosities, including art, stationery, clothing, home goods, and jewelry. Check out art from Caroline Nelson or Lara Neece of Forest and Fin and graffiti from Patch Whisky, or pick up something for the pooch, like Lauren Shuler’s designer dog leashes. There’s also coconut jewelry from Fernanda Sullivan, Caleigh Bird’s Sock Monsters, Artisan Tees, handmade totes from Evita Smith, Ink Meets Paper letterpress, photography from Chuck Keppler, and too much more to list. “It’s all in support of local creators. Anybody who can make anything is welcome to join,” says event coordinator Thea Anderson. After browsing the stalls, get in a friendly game of bocce ball on Mixson’s league-sized bocce ball court. Charleston area food trucks and treat makers like the BBQ Joint, Taco Boy, Hello My Name is BBQ, Sweeteeth Chocolate, and Daniel Island Grill’s Dig Rig will be on-site, offering goodies up throughout the day. Beat the heat with a funky-flavored popsicle from King of Pops or local brews being served up by Cork Neighborhood Bistro while enjoying live music from Wire and Wine, Aaron Firetag with Jessica and Jordan Igoe, and Megan Jean and the KFB. Bring the kids, the family pup, and a quilt for lounging and you’ve got a new place to spend the first Sunday funday of the month.
