Monty Python's Spamalot

When: Tue., Jan. 11, 7:30 p.m. and Wed., Jan. 12, 7:30 p.m. 2011

I first saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail when I was in the fourth grade, and while I may not have understood all of the jokes, I knew my life would be changed forever. From the Knights who say Ni to the absolutely terrifying Rabbit of Caerbannog, it’s a hilarious film. The only thing missing was a couple of song-and-dance numbers. Heck, even Life of Brian had a musical interlude. But luckily, 10 years after I first saw the flick, along came Spamalot. Python Eric Idle (Sir Robin in the film) wrote the book and lyrics for the performance, which debuted on Broadway in 2005 and won that year’s Tony for Best Musical. Though it’s a little different from the original, the Black Knight is still there, and really, that’s all that matters. Hopefully none of the cast members will fart in your general direction. —Susan Cohen
