When: Fri., Feb. 15, 6-9 p.m. 2013
Just in case SEWE isn’t enough to keep you busy, the artists of 193 King are hosting a wildlife- and nature-themed art show of their own to help kick off SEWE weekend. This collaborative show will feature the work of seven local artists, including oil painter Rebecca Hinson, illustrative artist Jeanette Louise, photographer Gregg Lambton-Carr, and others. “The art show will be a great opportunity for people to come in and experience the shop’s cool energy,” says Hinson. If you can’t make it to the show, the artists encourage you to visit Charlestonartshop.com, where some of their work is featured and available for purchase. “It’s an online gallery for local Charleston artists only,” explains Hinson. “Kind of like an Etsy for Charleston art, and it’s the first of its kind.” Online shopping is great, but seeing it all in person is better, so stop by the show even if only to see the location. We’re told it’s an old Charleston single house with a converted studio porch and quite the artsy vibe. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. SEWE pregame, anyone?
