Neckprov, Hot Pants, and Moral Fixation

When: Tue., May 29, 7 p.m. 2012

A little off. Piccolo's Fringe series is more than Charleston's equivalent of Off-Off-Broadway — it's a showcase for the best and latest local comedy acts. This event, billed as "more improv comedy than you can handle," includes Neckprov, a take on the redneck comedy genre featuring the warped and wonderful Brandy Sullivan and Greg Tavares, co-founders of Theatre 99.

Ladies' night. Sullivan takes to the stage again with Hot Pants, a two-woman show alongside veteran Theatre 99 performer Jennifer Dyer-Buddin. The pair will ask for audience suggestions to tell stories about a variety of characters and relationships.

Something to chew on. Tavares joins Lee Lewis for Moral Fixation, an improv show that has been described as "comedy on the meatier side," with moments of genuine reflection alongside the jokes. "There's more substance than some audience members expect, but no one's disappointed with the extra emotion," Lewis told the City Paper before the group's 2011 Comedy Festival performance. "Even if they're looking for something silly, they get more than they bargain for."
