New Edition

When: Thu., May 3 2012

The North Charleston Coliseum might be jumpin’ high and hard on Thursday when the veteran pop/R&B vocal group New Edition makes a stop at the venue during their 30th anniversary tour. New Edition formed as a young Jackson Five-style boy band in Boston in 1978. With a lineup consisting of Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ralph Tresvant, they scored several big hits in the early and mid 1980s, including “Candy Girl,” “Cool it Now,” and “Mr. Telephone Man.” Last year, all six members — including the ever-combustable Brown — reunited at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. “This is just the beginning. We’re preparing for a world tour and many other exciting things that we’ll be announcing soon,” Bell said after the New Orleans show. “The next chapter of New Edition is going to be an incredible celebration to thank our fans for all of their support over the last 30 years.” The show starts at 7 p.m.
