New Year's Eve at Barsa

When: Mon., Dec. 31 2012

What: To ring in the New Year at a refreshingly reasonable price, head way up King Street to Barsa. Though there won’t be any swinging acrobats or world’s strongest men (see Charleston Unmasked, p. 51), there will be plenty of good food, good drinks, and good cheer — and what more do you really need? The masquerade will feature live music by Whiskey Diablo, a photobooth by Babe Rouge, and tapas available until 1 a.m. And you can take the masquerade part to heart, says Barsa’s Lisa Shimko. “Last year I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people who dressed in masquerade. But we do provide some masks, while they last, to those that show up without but want to participate.” The party will be both inside the bar and outside on the new patio, and guests are welcome to dress as casual or as glitzy as they want. Reservations for tables are available, though they’re expected to go fast.
