Spotlight Concert Series: Live From Spoleto, Italy - Pianist Laura Magnani

When: Sat., May 26, 2 p.m. 2012

What:

Passionate piano. In true Italian fashion, Magnani is an emotional pianist — don't expect a dull veteran sitting stolidly on the piano bench for an hour.

Proud mama. Becoming a mother four years ago changed the way Magnani plays "dramatically," she says. "Having a child has given me a depth of sensitivity I never would have expected to have. It's a whole new chapter in my soul."

Exchange program. This year, Magnani won't be the only authentic Spoleto citizen in Charleston. Spoleto's mayor will be visiting with a delegation in a gesture of goodwill that will strengthen the bond between the two Sister Cities. Surely we should be sending some people over there, as well. Who volunteers for next year's delegation to Italy?
