TED 2013:The Young, The Wise, The Undiscovered Live-Stream

When: Thu., Feb. 28, 9:45 a.m. 2013

What: Time for brainiacs to unite. The organizers of TEDxMarionSquare are putting together this live stream of the TED 2013 conference for enthusiasts who can’t wait until Charleston’s own TEDx event in May. TED is an annual gathering where speakers from various occupations present life-changing ideas in 18 minutes or less. “If you know nothing about TED, this is a great opportunity to learn about it. First-time attendees will be with people who understand the power of TED and perhaps will be inspired and experience a platform for creativity and idea sharing,” says Kira Perdue, Media Relations Specialist for TEDxMarionSquare. There will be four sessions and four different themes: Disrupt, Dream, Create, and Sustain. The conference will feature more than 20 speakers and performers including mouth musician Wang Li and sustainability strategist Leyla Acaroglu. Speakers range from a wide background of professions, from educators to environmentalists, designers to inventors. “Every speaker at TED is inspiring, but what is unique about attending an event like this is that you can see what actually happens at TED, not just the talk itself. You are also able to see talks way before they will appear on TED.com,” says Perdue.

Boy, I sure can't wait to hear some great TEDx talks about how technology is going to change the underlying paradigm of the internet zeitgeist by actualizing social media into an ethereal concrete shape of unprecedented power that will allow more people to step up to the technological plate and take a piece of the pie that we will grow through the use of ideas that shape and mold our concept of what ideas really are and what they can be and how powerpoint and large video screens will bring democracy to the Middle East, end hunger in Africa, and keep the profits of tech companies strong.
