Charleston-based rock/country trio the Cordovans have been kicking up dust and making a ruckus this spring. Singer/guitarists Beau Johnson and Billy New and drummer Nick Zareski started out as a straightforward, acoustic-based act specializing in Americana and roots-rock. All three bandmates work for the MIL Corporation, a local company that offers financial, technical, and business solutions to government agencies and commissions. Over the last year, they’ve developed a solid live show and a full set of twangy and melodic original material. Last month, the trio was selected as semi-finalists for Fortune and the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame’s Corporate Battle of the Bands. This weekend, the Cordovan’s will perform a laid-back Mother’s Day show on the Home Team BBQ stage on Sullivan’s Island. 8 p.m.
