The Cordovas w/ John Wesley Satterfield and his Damn Fine Band, the Key of Q

When: Sun., Oct. 23 2011

Powered by melodic, country-tinged pop tunes with smooth, dense harmonies, newly formed group the Cordovas is the latest musical project from singer/songwriter Jaron Lowenstein (previously of pop duo Evan and Jaron). The Georgia-based Lowenstein recently fronted a twangy group called Jaron and the Long Road to Love, which was known for the alt-country hit “Pray For You.” This year, he teamed up with Joe Firstman (the former band leader of NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly), Jon Loyd, Toby Weaver, and Caleb Gilbreath to form the Cordovas. Charleston-based bassist Jonathan Gray (formerly of Jump, Little Children; Crowfield) and drummer Parker Gins (Crowfield) signed on. The Cordovas released a self-titled debut album in September. “This whole project has been one giant musical evolution, and it still continues to evolve daily,” says Lowenstein. “Joe and I had no idea where this would lead when we began working together. We set out to create the best music we could.” The band plays on the Honest Tea Stage at 12:30 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 22 at the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival at Blackbaud Stadium. They headline the Pour House on Sunday evening.
